1. Car to Car Communication
The US government alongside automakers is working on car technologies to make future vehicles talk to each other as well as their surrounding objects. NHTSA suggests that integration of V2I with V2V systems will decrease road traffic accidents by 81%.
2. Autonomous Cars
Although the idea of self-driving cars has been around for quite some time, reached to us through TV Shows and movies, no one thought it would become a real-life possibility one day. Other than Google, Volkswagen, Ford, and Audi have been testing self-driving cars for years. Ford has recently test drove an autonomous car in Arizona, while Tesla is promising to provide fully autonomous cars in the next couple of years.
Autonomous cars are capable of recording road images, finding alternative road routes and traffic lights etc, using advanced radars, cameras, and lasers that enable these cars to process data faster than humans. Even though the concept may seem far-fetched, GM has also done the testing on its own to deliver an autonomous car by 2020. 3. Airbag Technology to Prevent Damage
Airbags are usually found in the front compartment of the vehicle but the automakers who value safety through advanced gadgets also extend curtain airbags, side airbags, seatbelt airbags and knee airbags so to reduce the impact of a collision.

In this regard, Mercedes was working on an airbag technology to make a vehicle freeze completely in a near to happen collision scenario.
